DXO Communications, Erie Community College’s vendor for mail sorting services of First-Class letters, learned on November 6, 2017 that some of the mail we sorted for Erie Community College was misdirected to incorrect addresses. This was the result of a software failure on the DXO Communications’ barcoding machine that applies the routing barcode to letter mail. The issue occurred intermittently between November 1, 2017 and November 6, 2017.
The misdirection of the mail was in no way the fault or intent of Erie Community College.
The software issue was corrected immediately and new operational procedures were implemented to monitor the software’s performance. Since those corrections and procedures were initiated on November 7, 2017 we have not experienced any barcoding failures.
DXO Communications apologizes for the malfunction and any inconvenience and/or mail delivery delays it caused to Erie Community College and it’s constituents. We are cooperating with Erie Community College to ameliorate the situation.
